APRIL 2007: French house prices report

According to FNAIM - the French estate agents association - the annual rate of growth slowed as it did at the start of 2005 and 2006, to +6.5% (compared to 10.4% and 7.1% in the same periods of 2005 and 2006).

Indeed prices almost stagnated in the 1st quarter of 2007 itself at +0.5%.

It is interesting that FNAIM describe the "worrying nature of current asking prices, almost twice as high as those observed nationwide in 2000".

Differences were quite marked in different regions, with the 1st quarter increase in the Ile-de-France region being highest at +8.4% for houses, and the lowest being the South West region (a fall in value of 3.1%).
