Buying a House Abroad: Cape Verde
Until recently it was not exactly an easy place to get to unless you live in Lisbon or Senegal. However, all that has changed with ThomsonFly's weekly service from Gatwick and Manchester. The flight takes about 6 hours. Also, charter airline Astraeus have flights Gatwick or Manchester to Sal (the lead singer of Iron Maiden Bruce Dickinson may even be your pilot!). Expect more flights... There are flights form other European cities, including Amsterdam, Paris and Milan, as well as flights to Boston, South Africa and Brazil among others.
According to some reports TACV (Cabo Verde airlines) was supposed to fly from Birmingham to Praia in November 2006, although we haven't seen any evidence of this ourselves.
Cape Verde looks a fascinating place to visit. Perhaps misnamed - it doesn't get much rain at all, and the `Cape Verde' name comes from Cap Vert (Green Coast) of the Senegal Coast nearby.
Cape Verde has many beautiful, unspoiled beaches, most of which are close to the Sal international airport. Islands that are seeing interest include Sal, Santiago (with captial city Praia) and Boa Vista. Although it is quite a long trek to get there, at least you won't suffer from jet lag as it's on a similar time zone to the UK. General informationHouses for sale
