Until recently it was not possible for foreigners to buy property in Switzerland. Recently, the regulations have relaxed somewhat. However, still second homes and holiday homes are verboten - you'll need to be a resident. Also, the houses are phenomenally expensive!
Many rich and famous celebrity people have settled in Switzerland - quite a few tennis now live in Geneva for example. Switzerland used to be outrageously expensive, but it's not so bad now.
Of course, the scenery, with all those mountains and lakes, is breathtaking. The Swiss are well known for their tolerance and neutrality. Also, their punctual trains are unrivalled.
