On the whole Southern Europe continues to show promise for investment. Portugal has always been a favourite place for those seeking sun, sea and their own villa. Given the great weather (almost year round sun in the south) and appealing way of life, it's a great place to live.

More positively Channel 4's A place in the sun recently placed it number 3 in the list of the top European countries for investing in a house abroad - with a predicted 360% return over the next 10 years on £100K.
Estate agents and other informationThe Algarve has always been the favourite place for overseas investors, between Faro and Lagos being the most built up. A more authentic Portugal can be seen east of Faro or west of Lagos. The Costa Verde in the north is also very pleasant, north of the second city Porto. Also, the unspoilt Silver Coast (north west of Lisbon) is gaining interest from overseas purchasers.
